Although no minimum score is required, to be able to register for ECON 1001, students must take the ALEKS math placement exam. Students who started at the university Fall 2023 or later need a proctored ALEKs exam score. Permission of the instructor is required for students who have an ALEKS score of 61 or higher, who have taken AP Microeconomics or Macroeconomics in high school or who have already taken a Calculus course. Comments: To be able to register for ECON 1011 students must have a minimum score of 61 on the proctored ALEKS math placement exam August 16 2024 or have taken and passed ECON 1001 with a minimum grade of C-. Students who have received credit for MATH 1221, or MATH 1231, or MATH 1252, or MATH 1232 or have the required score on an AP calculus or AP economics exam are waived from the ALEKS Math Placement test requirement. Students who started at the university prior to Fall 2023 may use their unproctored ALEKs exam score. Students who do not achieve the minimum ALEKS score should contact their advisor for their options.
