Sign Up for ALERT DC

Sign Up for ALERT DC

GW Community,

Members of the GW Community are encouraged to sign up for Alert DC. This 
public service, made possible through the Government of the
District of Columbia, provides immediate text notification to email,
cell phone, and other electronic devices during a crisis or emergency.

This emergency notification service is available to DC residents,
individuals who work in the District of Columbia, visitors, and GW students. GW's Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management uses this service to provide alerts to the GW community.

To sign up, follow this link to the DC Homeland Security and Emergency
Management Agency's Alert DC site:

**During the registration process, select George Washington University
from the "Colleges/Universities" listing at the bottom of the screen.**

Alert DC Signup Instructions

Alert DC is a public notification service provided by the District of Columbia to provide information before or during an incident.  Sign up for the George Washington University group to receive messages pertinent to the University community.

Step 1: From the Alert DC sign up sheet, click "New User"

Step 2: Fill in your name and email address in the fields at the top of the
screen

Step 3: Select the device (phone, email account, blackberry, pager) that you
would like to register from the appropriate drop down menu and enter the email address or phone number that corresponds to the device

Step 4: If you would like to register an additional device, click "Add More"

Step 5: Set a password which will allow you modify the settings and devices
you are registering with Alert DC

Step 6: Scroll to the bottom of the webpage to the field labeled
"Colleges/Universities" and select, "George Washington University"

Step 7: Click "Continue"

Step 8: Select the options you would like in the drop down menus
**NOTE** Selecting "No" for alerts you do NOT want to receive, will limit the messages you receive to GW pertinent incident communication

Step 9: Click "Finish Registration"

Step 10: The next screen is a summary of the options you registered with
Alert DC, click "Logout" in the upper left hand corner.

You have successfully registered with Alert DC. You should receive a test message shortly. Remember your password so that you can modify this account at anytime.
